Clearly the conditions of the Course are entirely unsatisfactory and remain unsuitable for ‘private club/first class’ play, and are trending worse.
The Developer/Sponsorship of the course already needs to invest an estimated $3-5 Million to repair past years’ damages and deferred capital expenditures, and to restore the golf course’s conditions to acceptable levels. Bunkers are in major disrepair, drainages have failed, irrigation is inconsistent and inadequate, cart paths have deteriorated/failed, turf conditions are marginal and edge/natural habitat areas are degraded and failing, while key, statement trees are being lost. At this point, as we understand it, there is no plan/schedule to make that much-needed investment required for improvement.
Furthermore, the regular and ongoing course maintenance is inadequate to prevent further deterioration of the playing surfaces and the adjacent natural areas… or the course’s operating systems, including irrigation.
To be fair, we’re fortunate that the winter/spring rains have once again temporarily restored many parts of the course, so its natural beauty is returning… for the next couple of months. And, the greens continue to be marvelously maintained by 7C’s terrific maintenance crews. We can continue to be thankful for their dedication!
· Much of the course’s play is, today, “daily fee” outside play stemming from Troon affiliates and from other sources, including Enchantment or ‘event’ play.
While some outside play is helpful and necessary for the long-term success of Seven Canyons, it’s seemingly reached a point where “Club Membership” is being denigrated… and access to the course is now seriously compromised for most “Club Members”.
We’ve heard many Members are now beginning to consider abandoning their Club Memberships… and, frankly, its understandable.
The current conditions, and trends, are completely unacceptable for “private club/first class” experiences… for which Club Members are paying.
